Our top three Halloween Cocktails
Our top three Halloween Cocktails
Halloween is just around the corner so we have compiled our top three spooky Halloween cocktails. Whether you’re hosting a Halloween party or just watching a scary film at home with friends, these creative gin cocktails are guaranteed to get you in the spirit (geddit?)!
1. The Gin Zombie
The Gin Zombie is a new take on the Zombie cocktail traditionally made with rum. An invention by the founding father of “tiki” culture Donn Beach, the Zombie apparently got its name when Beach served several to a hungover customer to perk him up ahead of a business meeting. Said customer returned several days later complaining the serve sent him into a zombie like state and ruined his entire trip. The Zombie’s fruity smooth flavour disguises its high alcohol content, so drink with caution!
Our take on this classic combines Glaswegin Raspberry & Rhubarb Gin with a whole host of fruity flavours.
(Serves 2 people)
Ingredients:
70ml Glaswegin Raspberry & Rhubarb Gin
25ml lime juice
25ml grapefruit juice
25ml Elderflower Liqueur
15ml grenadine
10ml ginger syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Method:
Add all the ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Fill a spooky glass with crushed ice and strain your cocktail into the glass. Garnish with a passion fruit half for that extra gooey, gunky appearance! Enjoy, if you dare!
2. The Corpse Reviver
The Corpse Reviver cocktail was part of a selection of serves designed to supposedly cure hangovers during the prohibition and can be traced back to the 1870s. Very different times indeed!
Ingredients:
Absinthe, to rinse glass (optional)
25ml Glaswegin London Dry Gin
25ml vermouth
25ml Cointreau
25ml lemon juice, freshly squeezed
Method:
Rinse the inside of a chilled coupe or cocktail glass with absinthe, discard the excess and set the glass aside. Add the Glaswegin, vermouth, Cointreau and lemon juice into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with orange peel. Enjoy!
3. Pumpkin Spiced Old Fashioned
Traditionally an Old Fashioned is made with Bourbon, but for this unusual serve, we’re using our Limited Edition Bourbon cask matured Glaswegin. It really works, trust the process!
Ingredients:
25ml Glaswegin Bourbon cask matured Gin
1 tablespoon pumpkin puree (you can make your own after carving!)
½ teaspoon maple syrup
¼ teaspoon vanilla
A dash Angostura Bitters
Ice
Method:
Place all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice. Shake well and until the mixture is chilled. Strain into a tumbler filled with ice and garnish with orange peel and drunken cherries.
Happy Halloween gin lovers! Cheers!
